Learn about

life is full of stress and our bodies are overloaded

It's time to listen to our bodies

BF_background_11.jpg

We are constantly bombarded by three kinds of stressors—physical, emotional, and chemical—that can cause blockages in the spine and disrupt the flow of energy and messaging.

THE SPINE AND NERVOUS SYSTEM IS A LIVING NETWORK THAT PROCESSES ENERGY, TENSION AND STORED EXPERIENCES

The score

BF_background_13.jpg

When you experience a stressful emotion and don’t have the capacity to fully process it in that moment, your body has to store that information somewhere. That information (made up of the biochemical markers of emotion) gets stored in the spine, and overtime interrupts the healthy flow of signals from the brain up and down the spine and out through the nerves to our organs.

Our bodies contain the innate intelligence to heal ourselves

Deep healing is possible

Here’s the exciting news though: your body’s innate intelligence has an amazing capacity to heal itself and always seeks to return to homeostasis.

Body Flow opens up the lines of communication between your brain and the rest of your body

How Body Flow works

BF_background_09.jpg

Through gentle touch at specific points along the spine, we encourage your body to focus on the areas where the stress has been stored and release what is present. Body Flow works with the vagus nerve, increasing the flow of cerebrospinal fluid up and down the spine to allow for profound nervous system regulation.

Body Flow will use the Spinal Flow Technique to achieve this. Spinal Flow is a unique healing modality developed by Dr. Carli Axford. To learn more about Spinal Flow, head to the Spinal Flow offical website.

Where stress is stored in your body

Cranium.jpg

Base of cranium

Restricted energy through the nerve supply at the base of the cranium leads to low energy, spaciness/ dizziness, memory issues and brain fog.

Upper cervical.jpg

Upper cervical, C1 - C2

A blockage in the area at the top of the cervical spine restricts the flow of information to the rest of the body, but also directly affects the neck, ears, nose and throat causing headaches, TMJ, sinus problems and even learning disorders.

Lower cervical.jpg

Lower cervical, C3 - C7

Blockages in the lower cervical spine can lead to neck and shoulder pain, sore throats, thyroid issues, swollen glands, food sensitivities and tiredness after eating and can feel like you can't speak your truth or express yourself freely.

Thorasic.jpg

Thorasic spine, T1 - T12

The thorasic spine contains the nerve supply to the upper and mid back, the heart, lungs, gallbladder, liver, spleen kidneys, pancreas and stomach and blockages here cause symptoms such as breathing issues/ asthma, chest pain, heart burn, high or low blood pressure, gas, burping, trouble with fatty foods, indigestion, kidney and bladder problems.

Lumbar.jpg

Lumbar spine, L1 - L5

The lumbar spine contains the nerve supply to the lower back, colon, prostate and uterus and a blockage here feels like not having enough energy or drive to get trough life, feeling disempowered, lacking in Chi and feeling withdrawn.

Sacrum.jpg

Sacrum

Stored stress in the sacrum leads to lower back pain, sciatica, hip issues, groin and knee pain and can feel like being stuck in the past, unable to move forward or make decisions easily, overall feeling unsupported.

Base.jpg

Coccyx

Lack of energy flow to the coccyx leads to anxiety, depression, nervous system issues and neurological disorders and will keep the body stuck in fight/ flight, where you may feel ungrounded, dissociated and overwhelmed.

what does a body flow session feel like?

The solution

BF_background_01.jpg

Each individuals experience is unique and sensations may change in nature and intensity from session to session. During your session you may feel deeply relaxed, you may feel movement or only subtle sensations - just trust your body to do what it needs! Everyone’s healing journey is different, some days we will feel a full release and other days we may just become more familiar with what needs to be released. Whatever your experience, know that it’s all part of the process.
